In no particular order, here are ten new 12“s from 2008 that we reckon should be bought by all.

The Third Man – Circadian Rhythms
Ai022LP
A sci-fi electro stomper booming throughout the galaxies.

Mr. Pauli – Biersmijt E.P.
MST 009
Just squeezing into 2008, head straight for the high energy of ‘Le Crunch’. Brings back fond memories of Mr. Pauli’s drum rolls at the CBS Necroparty.

Kruton – Nitro Hassle
KRUTON 3
Twisted, bouncy techno that builds and builds all the way to the finish. A favourite off the Dissident label this year.

Muravchix / Tommy Walker 3 / Spruxxx / Casionova – Wings Of Destiny
Cyber Dance 003
The Cyber Dance label is on a roll at the moment. Four equally fine and different trips here. Plenty more where this came from in 2009 methinks.

passEnger – The Funk / The Fall
eclipse002
These soulful tracks inspired us to book passEnger to come play for us in February 2009. Also carrying the now typical mark of deep techno tunes – coloured vinyl.

Various – Jahtarian Dubbers Vol. 1
JTR 01
2008 has been a great year for the Jahtari label with worldwide recognition. This record (Jahtari’s first vinyl release) offers up a slow-mo digital mishmash unlike anything else around.

Various – Computer Incarnations For World Peace II
SK185EP
A brilliant E.P. with Maurice Fulton’s remix of ‘Rollmottle – Take a Break’ being the stand out track. Pure cosmic funk.

Wireman – Armour E.P.
PN 04
Glasgow’s Wireman launches his long overdue first release. This is heavyweight.

Larry Heard – 25 Years From Alpha
ML-2226, BLACK MARKET 002
Only just out but my word this is one smooth composition, 15 minutes of bliss.

Various – Don’t You Know? E.P.
RST-002
Four raw warehouse tracks on Buzz Goree’s label. The two charging Xenogears contributions on this are ace.

Slabs of the Tabernacle 2nd Birthday @ La Cheetah Club
Saturday 3rd April
23.00-03.00
£8 Entry (£10 after 12am)

Tevo Howard (Beautiful Granville Records, Hour House Is Your Rush Records – Chicago)

Slabs of the Tabernacle reaches it’s second birthday and to celebrate we have a DJ set from Chicago born and raised Tevo Howard.

Very much in the spotlight at the moment, with some meaty releases on Hour House Is Our Rush Records and his own label Beautiful Granville Records, he is still pushing that classic Chicago sound in a really sweet way that has captivated house heads, old and new.

Tevo has been DJing about The Windy City since 1987 at the age of 13 and we’re looking forward to an intimate party set of all-things-Chicago. Hope you can join us.
